About Mr. Choate
Mr. Choate is the Web Design & Development teacher at Dauphin County Technical High School. His journey is marked by both military service and a passion for technology. With a background as an Air Traffic Controller in the Air Force, he made the transition to the digital realm and now imparts his knowledge to the next generation.
Educated with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Messiah University, Mr. Choate has built a strong and adaptable foundation. He is currently furthering his education by pursuing a Master’s degree at Penn State.
Outside the classroom, Mr. Choate is a devoted husband and father to two young boys. He owns a photography business, “Jato Create,” which allows him to explore his passion for visual storytelling. In his free time, he enjoys playing disc golf and cheering on the Buffalo Bills. He also contributes to his community by coaching the East Penn Intrepid boys travel soccer team, helping to nurture both the sport and the values it instills in young players.
Instructional Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is anchored in the belief that learning is most impactful when rooted in real-world contexts. By weaving practical applications into the curriculum, I aim to deepen understanding and inspire a curiosity that extends beyond the classroom.
Respect is paramount, creating an environment where every voice is valued, and diverse viewpoints enrich the learning journey. I strive to nurture critical thinking by posing thought-provoking open-ended questions, encouraging analysis, and fostering independent reasoning.
Through these pillars of experiential learning, respect, and critical thinking, I aspire to empower students with the skills and perspectives needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world of technology.
