Developed in 2014 in response to a growing need for highly skilled IT employees, students in the Information Technology Academy will complete two quarter-long rotations during the 9th grade year, recieving valuable core curriculum from qualified instructors. This extended rotation allows the students to determine with more accuracy the specialization that most truly aligns with individual interests and aptitude.
Computer Geeks reign supreme in this cutting-edge, technology-driven program that teaches the design, set-up, and trouble-shooting of computer networks and operating systems. Course work emphasizes independent work, skills and academic competencies. Computer-oriented problem solvers will enjoy hands-on environment mixed with live work. College in the High School dual enrollment opportunities are available with Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) offering college credits for those who qualify.
The Information Technology Academy is designed for students with a deep interest and talent for technology. Students in the Information Technology Academy will complete two quarter-long rotations before electing to focus on one of the two Career & Technical Program options available for ITAcademy students, Information Systems Technology and Web Development and Design. Multiple certifications are available and up to 20 college credits available for qualified students through CiHS and Dual Enrollment opportunities.
The ITAcademy currently has three instructors with over 30 years of collective experience teaching in Information Technology, Networking, Computer Programming and Application Development.
