Dear Parents/Guardians & Students,

As we wrap up another school year in the Web Development & Design program, I wanted to take a moment to recognize the incredible accomplishments of our students this year. From state competitions and national qualifiers to NOCTI success and future program growth, this has been an outstanding year for the program.

Competitions

FBLA

Prakash and Mandip earned 1st Place in Pennsylvania in Graphic Design during the FBLA State Leadership Conference.

With their state championship finish, they qualified for FBLA National Leadership Conference and will represent DCTS this summer in San Antonio, Texas.

SkillsUSA

Samir and Mandip earned 1st Place in Pennsylvania in Web Design during the SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference.

Their state title qualifies them to compete at the SkillsUSA National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia this summer.

The SkillsUSA Web Design competition requires students to complete a professional-level web design challenge under strict time constraints while demonstrating technical skill, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

PA Media & Design Competition

Our students also had a strong showing during this year’s Pennsylvania Media & Design Competition.

  • Rylan and Connor earned 1st Place in Web Design*
  • Bryce earned 1st Place in Video Production*
  • Pujan, Deep, and James earned 3rd place in Web Design

*These students will advance to the state finals at Elizabethtown College on May 19th.

NOCTI Success

I am extremely proud to share that ALL seniors in the Web Development & Design program scored ADVANCED on their NOCTI exams this year.

NOCTI exams are Pennsylvania’s technical assessments used to measure career readiness and industry-level technical proficiency. Achieving Advanced across the entire senior class is a tremendous accomplishment and reflects the dedication and growth of our students throughout their time in the program.

Senior Spotlight

A special congratulations goes out to senior Rylan, who has enlisted in the United States Navy. We are proud of his accomplishments and wish him the best as he begins this next chapter.

Program Growth & Future Updates

This summer, the Web Development & Design curriculum will undergo a major redesign to align with Pennsylvania’s updated 2027-2029 Competency Task List for CIP 11.0801. The updated standards now officially include Artificial Intelligence concepts and workflows as part of the curriculum.

Beginning next school year, students will begin exploring:

  • AI-assisted workflows
  • Prompt engineering
  • Ethical AI usage
  • AI productivity tools
  • Interactive web development
  • Responsive design
  • UX/UI concepts
  • Real-world client simulation projects

The goal is to continue aligning classroom experiences with the rapidly evolving technology industry while preparing students for both college and careers.

Attention Graduation Class of 2028

College in High School Opportunities

Current sophomores entering junior year will have the opportunity to participate in HACC College in High School courses through the Web Development & Design program.

Eligible students may earn up to 12 college credits while still enrolled at DCTS, giving students an opportunity to get a head start on college coursework and reduce future tuition costs.

Thank You

Thank you to all students, families, staff members, and community supporters who continue to support the Web Development & Design program. This has been an exciting year for the program, and I look forward to continuing that momentum next year.
